Metabolic Therapy Case report – 56-Year-Old Woman with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Maintains Stable Disease for Over 15 Years Without Chemotherapy!

STORY:

In 2001, a 56-year-old woman was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) during a routine check-up. Her white blood cell (WBC) count was 53.7 x 10⁹/L, but she had no symptoms. She was classified as Rai stage II and Binet stage A, meaning her disease was at an early stage but had the potential to progress.

She declined conventional chemotherapy and instead pursued an integrative approach to managing her condition. With the guidance of physicians at the George Washington Center for Integrative Medicine, she implemented dietary modifications, lifestyle changes, and specific supplements, while remaining under medical observation.

TREATMENT PLAN (INTEGRATIVE APPROACH):

The patient followed a comprehensive natural regimen, which included:

🔹Dietary Changes & Lifestyle Adjustments:

✔ Anti-inflammatory diet – Avoided dairy, refined sugars, and processed foods. Increased intake of vegetables, quality fats, and proteins.
✔ Physical activity – Engaged in regular walking and exercise to support overall health.

🔹Key Supplements Used:

✔ Vitamin D3 – Induced apoptosis (programmed cell death) in CLL cells.
✔ Vitamin K2 – Shown to induce apoptosis in leukemia cells.
✔ Mixed tocopherols & carotenoids (Vitamin E) – Potential anti-cancer properties.
✔ Methylation support (Methyl B12, Methylfolate, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Trimethylglycine) – To support cellular health and energy production.
✔ Green tea extract (High-dose EGCG, 1800mg/day) – Known to induce apoptosis in CLL cells and slow progression.
✔ Curcumin (1000mg/day, Meriva-500) – Anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive effects.
✔ Safflower & Flaxseed Oil (4:1 Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio) – Helped regulate inflammation by inhibiting NF-κB activation, a key driver of cancer cell survival.
✔ Milk Thistle – Provided liver protection and potential anti-cancer benefits.
✔ N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC) – Powerful antioxidant that supported detoxification and immune health.
✔ Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA, 25mg/day) – Used for bone density support.

RESULTS:

📉 Over 15 years, the patient’s CLL remained stable without the need for chemotherapy.
📊 Her WBC count gradually increased but remained manageable, peaking at 175,000 before stabilizing between 120,000 and 130,000.
💪 She remained asymptomatic, active, and in good health.

One notable observation was that after adding high-dose EGCG (green tea extract) to her regimen, her WBC count began to slowly decrease and plateau.

Her platelet count showed a slight downward trend over time, but overall, her health remained stable.

MY TAKE:

This case is a powerful example of how integrative approaches can help manage chronic cancers like CLL without chemotherapy. By using a scientifically backed regimen of anti-inflammatory supplements, immune support, and metabolic regulation, this patient controlled her disease for over 15 years while maintaining a good quality of life.

This case further highlights the importance of targeting inflammation, apoptosis pathways, and cellular metabolism in cancer treatment. I’ve seen similar improvements in my own cases, and I will continue sharing more evidence of the power of holistic approaches in cancer care.
